Benedictine Military School (known as “BC” to locals because it was founded in 1902 as a college) has a well-earned reputation for excellence in both academics and athletics. GMSHAY’s work for BC began over 30 years ago with the design of their Student – Alumni Center, the first new building built on campus since its founding.  Since then, we have helped prepare a campus-wide master plan that became the basis for a very successful fundraising campaign, and a vision for generations of Cadets yet to come.  The implementation of this plan began with a renovation of the Academic Center and the addition of a STEM Wing surrounding an atrium courtyard and containing collegiate prep classrooms and laboratories.  After that GMSHAY designed and executed plans for a new NFL quality athletic field and grandstands for football, soccer and lacrosse, leading to multiple Georgia State Championships for this high school for 400 young men.  More recently, working with landscape architect Tanya Mandell and Thomas + Hutton Engineers, the grounds and parking areas were upgraded and landscaped well enough to win an award from Scenic America.

“It has been a pleasure working with Mr. Shay and his firm over these many years and I look forward to future involvement and collaboration. His professionalism, excellent communication, and creative approach to out many projects has allowed us to offer a first class educational and sports experience for the Savannah community and all who visit our modern, beautiful campus.”

Fr. Frank Ziemkiewicz,

O.S.B, Headmaster of Benedictine Military School
