Bates Hagood was born in Florence, South Carolina and raised in the small town of Calhoun, Georgia. He moved to Savannah to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he received his B.F.A. in Architecture. A LEED Green Associate, Bates has a continually growing interest in sustainability and resiliency and strives to combine these qualities with humanistic design in all of his work.
His passion for architecture is fueled by a desire to create places that respond and adapt to the human and natural environment. An avid outdoorsman, he draws much of his inspiration from nature and such places are often the first he turns to when seeking recreation or respite.
